About The Chicken Tales

I am a new chicken keeper and every time I tell people I have chickens they say, "Oh, my grandma had chickens, I remember the chickens!" Or they will say, "My friend keeps chickens, they are so cool."

I have heard so many chicken tales since I started raising my flock of four I knew I had to record them for all to read and hear.

At one time there were millions of chicken farmers in the US. Everyone who had a garden kept a few chickens too. But now the backyard chickens have been replaced with factory chickens, and all of us have been unknowingly suffering ever since.

They healthy benefits of raising chickens has been removed from our society but it doesn't have to continue. We can take the chicken keeping back, one flock at a time.

I remember my own Mexican grandma (who never spoke a word of English) show me about chickens when I was a little girl. I have very fond memories of chickens myself, but if you would have told me I would be raising chickens in 2011... I wouldn't have believed it. But I am raising them and it has been absolutely amazing.

The Chicken Tales are stories of my own as well as others.  They recall memories everyone has of chickens plus the joy and beauty of chicken raising. My hope is that these Chicken Tales will encourage others to raise chickens because truly, it is so fun you would not believe it. Chickens have brought a lot of joy to my family and now we have real organic and fresh eggs too.
